5 years ago Bert announced on the Swaylocks forum that he was moving to the Gold Coast.

I said to him on the forum 'Bert, good luck with the move. You will learn a lot over here'.

I got roasted so hard by everyone like how dare you say the king of epoxy can learn from a place like the Gold Coast (he done amazing things for the world of smaller epoxy construction via this site. This thread http://www2.swaylocks.com/node/1012644 changed everything for so many people.)

What I meant with 'you will learn a lot' is summarised at the start of this movie. Bert became a friend of mine while he was here and we surfed together. Yes, he is a gentleman and a mad scientist. I wish him all the luck in the world, he has sacrificed a lot to follow his dreams of making better surfboards.......

Mad being the operative word. I found Bert a bit difficult to deal with, although I like his boards. I appreciate all he did on swaylocks.

Bert is a legend, he pioneered the epoxy Balsa construction. I loved his old Sunova Mals.
