A few years ago I bought an Anacapa board, designed by Al Merrick shaped and Glassed in Thialand, the glass was light and cracked just looking at it, and after a few surfs noticed the stringer wasnt 100% straight

Avoid imported junk go Aussie shaped and glassed

i had a Walden fish.. looked great but was super delicate. Glass looked heavy, but dinged super easy, fins popped out too easy and whole thing ended up snapped in half after surfing 1-2ft scabs...
It was made in thailand..

I've had a SLX Webber Pulse imported by Global Surf Industries. Made in Thailand.

The board dinged up if you looked at it too hard, it was full of deck depressions after a week and even gripping pressure when duckdiving was enough to leave finger shaped impressions on the bottom of the board, eventually resulting in the rails splitting.

Wouldnt buy another one.

I bought a new board that i didn't realize it was made in China. In fact it actually was stamped Designed and tested at Narembien. Fine print late i saw made in China. Very unhappy.

Super thin glass and i even managed to pop my fingers through it when duck diving once

My McT GSI (SLX) had noticeable deck compressions after about 3-4 surfs - not long after the glass split along the stringer for about 6 inches. Not happy after paying $1,350.

Having said that, my GSI 7S (PU) has taken a beating as is still in good nick after about 4yrs...

NB: all my previous boards have been locally made customs... just trying something different with the 7S and didn't realise locally shaped McT were available (in ignorance I mistakenly thought GSI were doing all of their boards).

I wouldn't say i was 100% happy with quality of my 7S fish either. Lots of imperfections in blank that can be seen and it is denting slightly[}:)] Wasn't what you'd say cheap but i guess that's what you get. I did and still do really want a custom board from one of our local shapers but i struggle having no patience

I saw the Katana Van at a local beach break this morning, the driver had just finished his surf and had a pretty sweet looking carbon railed board under his arm.

If it goes as good as it looks then Katana's the first port of call for my next stick!
