Can't believe the wipeout footage. Haven't seen too many wipeouts as dramatic as these.

I especially am impressed with the wipeout where he doesn't penetrate the wave, body surfs and then cartwheels over the falls. Gosh! what could the hold down be possibly like?

Good to finally see some footage of the local lads charging 'The Right'

It seems that if it doesn't have Mark Mathews or Ryan Hipwood in it, they don't post it on the aussie sites. In fact if I didn't know better, I would have thought Mark Mathews was virtually the only guy surfing it.
Not to say he doesn't deserve the coverage, he clearly has balls of steel, but I am yet to see any recognition of the local guys who showed him the in's and out's, in one of his clips.

To all the guys charging that, respect

I was talking with a guy a while back who surfs there and also of Tassie regualry. I don't remember which one but he said it actually spits you straight out, with very little hold down.

I'd be worried about the lip to be honest.. Mind you i wouldn't be within 100 foot of that thing in a boat or even a ski.

Many moons ago the company i worked for would provide Jet ski support at Margret Masters. The guys who would go down for the week loved it. But one year it was big pushing 20' sets and on the last day i went out on a ski to remove the bouys and even then i started spewing. Littelry, I was hung over but sobbered up very quickly

The last year we did it Taj was stuck on the inside with a school of sharks and the guy on the mic was yelling at the ski's to help. They didn't want to go in as he had not asked for asistance and in those days assistance ment you were out, but my mate rushed in, Taj said f- off but now he was stuck on the inside of a big set. Ski was luanched about 15 foot of lip and the life saver on back was now in water with schooling sharks. The hill though was screaming and cherring like it was all a show. Next wave Occy got interfered as the ski's were still trying to clear the areaIt was a dissater but very entertaining.

Maybe someone might remember it?

The following year the tour made ski'compalsary for all big events and we refused it as it cost us more than $6500 in damages just on the shore break.

The freefall at 1:46 was insane.
Those 15 sec adds at the start are a farkin killer - seems like an eternity.

I dont think it would be The Right. Brad Hughes copped a 30 second hold down. Scary stuff.

That is amazing footage, wonder how the guy felt after cart wheeling wipeout as a photographer I wouldn't be that keen to be just floating around out there on a over cast day like that, I'm not that brave!
