Crazy on so many levels. I wonder how often a boat goes over the falls and if the tow-ins ever get tangled. Just crazy!

I cant deal with crowds in normal situations so cant understand how you can deal with a crowd at pipe or at chopes where your life is on the line.

we were shown raw footage from the code red swell on a surf trip a few years ago and the sound from the wave was so hectic.. a really loud and deep thunderous roar. .

The boat shapes really look like big spears..I also cant figure out the control system. It looks like a big lever so maybe they are somehow made to move on a dime at short notice, and to spear through the wave if needed

known as a poti marara mainly for fishing for coastal pelagics and flying fish as it enables the operator to use one hand or your legs to control the boat and turn quickly while using the other for fishing....the other benefit is that you can see your way past the coral heads etc when inside the lagoon more easily......the overcrowding of teahupoo when it is that size has reached a ridiculous level, kind of funny for laird to be complaining as he was the main instigator of the big wave dash for cash................ i can only hope that it doesn't happen elsewhere on other unpublished breaks but sadly the cash cow and a bunch of surfing megalomaniacs/mercenaries will dictate that it does in the future!

In the code red swell a number of the hawaiians in the commentary had a go at some of the surfers and basically said they should not be out there. They (guy commentating) were going in to pick up guys after a wipeout as the the tow partner driving the ski would not go and pick up mate.

I wonder how many out there should not be there. When you have three or four ski's looking at waves thats getting out of control.

That was horrible... It reminded me of a spring break boat party but with the most hectic heavy wave instead of a lake... People are gonna get hurt out there or worse... It's only a matter of time... Imagine 2 surfers tangled up going over the falls with a couple of skis attached.... What a joke....
