Its that simple. For those that want to keep our sport to ourselves i say, its just life, get used to it.

For me i hate the surf schools, they seem to be attracted to me and they drive me crazy but how can you get upset at people wanting to get involved in our surf sport? Its just life.

My kids now love to surf, so should i shun them away so there's less people in the line up, Bakesy's boys seem to be contributing to the line up, should he ban them from surfing?

Honestly i say the forum police who like to keep there sport to themselves, shame on you

What piss's me of is the guys who are very good and they insist on taking every wave they can. There the ones who have been around and should know better. [}:)]

Yesterday's surf was so good especially as the guys who were shredding took the waves that suited them, leaving a lot of waves for everyone else, creating a sharing atmosphere that was great

To the guys who red thumb poeple for mentioning a spot (that honestly is not a special or secret spot) get a life

Red thumb that

Too true JB, I reckon one thing that should be pushed is the basic rules in the line up. I've had plenty of crowded sessions at metro spots where most obey the rules and it is all good.

A bit of patience goes a long way as well, as in waiting your turn insead of going up the inside and if the drop in is accidental just hold your tongue a bit. We've all been there ha ha.

It's a bloody fun sport so will only get more popular, love seeing the stoke on a beginner when they are getting their first waves, brings back memories when you were just stoked to feel the wave pick you up, even if it did dump you on the beach

I think a big part of surfing is calling. I much prefer people called a wave in the surf then not. I find i tend to call people on the inside of me all the time and it works a treat. Often when your having to look right and left, with a easterly, water getting in your eyes and having to watch for people paddling out, if someone calls me if there are on the inside you know to pull of saves you having to constantly look both ways

I had a booger drop in on me. I was only maybe two foot away and called him, jumped up and he staying right there. SO i nearly cleaned him up. When we paddled back out instead of saying sorry he paddled about 100 mtrs down the beach. Might of expected a lashing but i would have just accepted his apology and moved on. It was no real biggy. Second or third time i would have got upset

I agree i don't think much is said in the surf schools about etiquette. Simple tricks like don't be paddling straight out under the busiest peak, or chucking boards to get under whitewash when there are others around you

I'm the opposite to you guys.

Why would I care if someone else is enjoying themselves?

What joy does it bring to me to see 50 more people in the water?

Why should I call someone off my wave? Do you have neck issues? Eye issues? When you're driving down the road, should people just randomly pull out in front of you unless you beep at them?

Why do I want to share with strangers? If I have an hour of time in the water, if I take turns with 20 other people that means one wave (or less) for me. No thanks.

I'll share if there are less people than set waves to go around in 10 minutes. Otherwise, no way.

No such thing as an accidental drop-in. What, you accidentally paddled for that wave and accidentally caught it? Do it to me and I'll run you down if I can. Oops, I must be a kook if you dropped-in on me. Damn, sorry, I can't control where I'm going. Oh, you accidentally dropped-in - sorry, I accidentally ran into you.

I reckon we must've been in parallel universes yesterday jbshack. The waves sucked and no-one was ripping. It was straight and small.

^ Unless you are prepared to travel you get crowds, simple as that.

Even when there are crowds find a spot to yourself. Its not hard.

There are even metro beachies that will have no one on them but Trigg thirds will be packed, sheep will be sheep.

Good post from where I'm living, some of us GC guy's have a laugh at the WA protection thing but its over here there are no secret spots,at the end of the day the best surfer on the day will get the best waves and the rest will get seconds which is not a bad thing, sure I hate greedy pigs but if they are real good I get some enjoyment from them ripping the bags out of something I cant.

Nice post again JB.about time someone said it as it is

Mate at the end of the day Im happy just to get in the water, everything else is just a waste if you worry about it too much.

Less of this would be good tho.

I find that you dont necessarily have to be the best surfer to get waves in a crowded lineup. You just have to know where to sit, especially if its shifty. Thats why I don't bother with waves like Jakes in Kalbarri coz its such a small defined takeoff zone. The local will have priority every time.

Feeling a little grumpy today Legion,
Hope you didn't go surfing with that attitude, you and all those around you would have ha a complete bummer of a session EVEN if the waves were good.

Sometimes I think surfers breed surfers. I can't believe some surfers' stupidity. Like they look at a crap wave with twenty guys and think "it must be good because there's twenty guys, let's make it twenty two!" they are so stupid. Even a cranking wave with twenty blokes, well it's simple maths... division equals less than. I go to places that are absolute crap in metro area and have no one. Close outs, dry rocks whatever. Anything except that **** hole trigg or scarbs.

I think everyone hates crowds, all too true that we get a little p****d off when your sitting there by yourself and people paddle out and sit right next to ya, maybe they're scared to surf by themselves. We are not pros, we're just people that like to surf, lets just enjoy it.

You guys want more waves?
Learn to sit in the right spots and read the water better.

High wave count has little to do with your actual ability as a surfer. It's all about reading it right and predicting where the next one is coming from.
I've lost count of how many times I sneaked away from the pack just in time for an absolute ripper to come through and for me to be the only one in position to get it.

Yes, crowds suck. Yes, we all hate SUPers, boogers, goatboaters and kooks in general. Yes, this has been a terrible 12 months of surfing for Perth...

...I still manage to get stoked often enough.

I also sit of the pack, can't be bothered fighting for them either but as for the day being crap.

Well i guess guys getting in three or even four big turns in for Perth i consider good. Two of them had perfected there drop knee, grab a rail and were getting barreled like i haven't seen in a long time in Perth It did drop of around 7.40 so i left around 8.00

My point was these guys then didn't just turn around and grab ever other wave that flowed in.

The big idea of this thread was that we (as in the guys on the forum) are all here for the same reason. To talk surfing and part of that is to talk about days, places and surfs had. If your not wanting to share that why are you here?

I'd prefer to share a surf with someone or a few mates then go sit on my own, but i guess we all different then aren't we

LOL...you guys should move some where much colder...its easy to get plenty of lovely uncrowded surf if you go mid-week or the air temp is hovering just above zero.....if I still lived in Perth I would get the ****s with the crowds and the ****ful surf....

I think the crowds are down over the last few years. I remember the after work surf was shoulder to shoulder. Maybe we can thank the men in grey suits for something. I think the rise of the booger stopped a lot of kids picking up surfing and by the time they reach there late teens there done with it.

The reason I posted the clip is so you WA fellows can see what can go on over re-numbers in the lineup.

Your local sucks Mac

I only saw one goat boater and a Long boarder dropping in so that doesn't count

I feel the bigger problem for places like Trigg or similar beaches is that the waves move around a little and you tend to have groups of people all over. So Often when your looking to take of your simply going to run over the surfers that have just caught a wave in. This style of wave doesn't really lend it self to just surfing around that easy either I think when you have a point or even a reef break its alot more organised as you can very easily paddle around and other than someone who has come of inside its normally clear.

My bug bear is how often do you see three or four people paddling for a wave only to have the guy on the inside pull of leaving no one going at all. That's why i say people should call. If im on the inside and didn't call, got dropped in on than i figure thats as much my issue.

Legion is right as far as there should be enough perfect waves for everyone, no need to wait between sets and no dodging of others paddling back out, but i'm hoping thats how it will be for me in the after life

EDIT: Maybe i could also add topless mermaids rubbing my feet and shoulders between sets might also be nice
