Hi guys, I;ve booked a 10 day family holiday in Seminyak and am trying to chase some waves early in the morning b4 wife and kids time Any ideas on the best way to get out to ulu early and back again for lunch?? Happy to surf elsewhere if close to Seminyak Trip is end March Cheers
Out the front of 66 corner usually has a high tide bank... but that of year i would be finding a driver and heading over to nusa dua.... i was there in may and it was pumping!!! might want to have someone to surf with tho!! i will probably be able to hook you up with a driver that will surf with you if the waves are under 4 foot-3 meter faces!!!
A driver will take you out there and wait for 3 hours then bring you back... the price is up to you to figure out... between 10 and 30 bucks is what i have paid.. let him lnow you want multiple trips and you should get the price down... I dont know your bali experience but leave reeeeall early mate to avoid traffic and bank on hittting it bad on the way home... post surf bin tangs will make the trip more enjoyable and have youin a fine mood when u get back to the cook.... Now once you have sussed the route and are comfortable with it, you can hire a bike with racks and drive yourself if money is an issue... freedom to move and its qicker than bemo...waaaayyy quicker sometimes...more surfing time!!!!! As I said before im not sure of your bali experience but if you havent booked your accom yetthen id go stay in Sanur... same shopping and all but a bit quieter and the beach is lagoon style flat with outer reef and golden sand, turqoise water.... It has a beachside promenade and is waaaaayy safer for the tin lids.... youll buy heaps more water time with the missus cos she wont feel like she needs you there all the time cos of the lack of hecticness.... snorkelling, kitesurfing and all those good things for down time.... check it out... im jealous mate, my cook just had twins so I'm goin nowhere!!!!
Last year, I was staying in Tuban with wife and two young kids. Had the same idea, go for an early surf and get back for family stuff. Being time poor and knowing the traffic, I ended up hiring a boat and driver who took me all the way up the Bukit to Ulus stopping at every surf spot I wanted. I must admit it can be expensive if you are on your own as I recall it cost me around 600,000 rups and at the time, I thought $60 Aus was well spent to jump on and off a boat at whatever surf spot I wanted. If there a few of you or like minded surfers at your Hotel, you share the costs and it isn't bad value at all. Not sure about up at Seminyak but if there is no boats up there, pass through Kuta / Tuban beach or organize a driver to come up and get you. Good luck and have fun in Bali. GK
