I'm looking for opinions.

I've got to build a surfboard rack for the boards in the new garage tone of space but there isn't enough room for the long boards to stand upright.

It has to fit 3 x 9'-9'3" longboards, 6 x shortboard/fish 6'2"-7'2" if I can do it 2 x kiteboards (twin tips) but I'm not to fussed about them. And have enough space that I can fit 1 or 2 new boards in over time.

This is what the garage looks like boards are currently on there sides between the wall and the pillar to the left of the car

any thoughts

What about something that hangs from the roof Crazy???? looks a little cramped in there all ready. Just a thought......

Im not sure on the dimensions of ur garage but if you put something along the left wall chances are ur miss's might back the car into em?

Otherwise utilise the wall over the pillar infront of the car. If you stack em snugg you'd prob only need 250mm height max for each board??? Thats 2 thoughts from me mate. Hows it goin your end??

Its just come to me that ur pillars probably go to the roof so it may not work. I took it for granted by the positioning of it that it was bar height. Dont mind me

(giggle) yeah that suporting structure always gets in the bloody way!

Probably going to have to be a horizontal rack to the left of the car between the wall and the pillar just have to figure out the ordering

ie mals being the heaviest don't want them all the way up but being the longest down want them on the very bottom so you have to walk on them to get at the rest of the rack

Oh well - got to sort out the kitchen first took out 1 ton of scree and tiles on the weekend with a jackhamer, tell me the neighbors liked that on a saturday morning! Even got to rent a 2 tond tipper truck from Kenards now that was fun - (me) so it's ok to dump it here (tip guy) yeah mate right theres fine (me) ok "crash" "bang" "boom"

Thanks Rick - was thinking that's the direction I was going to have to head. Haven't made any head way forking on the walls in the unit at the moment.

Wall paper should be banned from use - oh I don't want to fiz it properly I know I'll just put wall paper one it. Or the I know I'll fill the expansion joint between the structural pillars and the no structural wall with render so it cracks and looks like crap instead of useing the right "gu"

Any chance you want to tell us the dimensions of the nice looking yellow rusty single fin

How high is the roof?

If you have the room you could pulley the boards up on to the roof with something similar to this contraption:

Yep,
it's 7'0'' about 19.5 wide, I can get exact dimensions if you want ?
It was onginally a set fin thruster, probably mid 80's but I had a box fin put in.
Rides really well as a single fin, a real retro blast !!
I had a new custom board shaped from it, and updated slightly with a finer nose and more rocker for the Mentawais' it went really well.

any hardware store eg Bunnings will sell aluminium U-shaped hooks with a gape of between 20 and 60 cm. One end is flattened and can be screwed or dynabolted into the wall. Fix them to the wall a suitable space apart and put some foam tubing around the hook. The surfboards will fit nicely into these hooks length ways along the wall and will be flush so the wont stick out. The hooks cost sabout 10 bucks each. I have 9 boards set up in this way.

Thanks for the help -

Finally have some time to set it up and fix the existing shelves over the next couple weekends now that I've finished the unit work (for now). Probably going to set it up so that the longboards are horazontal on the wall and the shortboards and kiteboards are vertical.

Plus I need to get the boards set up Physio says "if" (keyword) I'm lucky I can surf again in a month tell me I'd be happy, haven't been on a board since December 1st. Worst thing is I'm starting to dry out and be cranky
