Looking to stay in Fiji during July. Likely will be staying on the main island about 15mins north of nadi international at First Landing resort. I have emailed the resort with no reply yet but was hoping if someone could confirm if transfers from nearby or denarau is possible. Ultimately I would love a contact email of someone that might transfer me out to cloudbreak area or even hear some feedback from someone that has negotiated their way out to tiebreaks from the mainland.

Any advice appreciated.

First thing is there is a thing called 'Fiji Time'. I am on rat race Sydney time and expect everything done asap. Fijians are much more relaxed and it will happen just take longer then we expect. If you are ordering drinks around the pool, it may take a while. They are not intentionally slow it's just their lifestyle and it drives you nuts at first but you either order 2 beers at a time or get it yourself. This is probably the reason why the resort hasn't replied yet.

Why are you staying in that location and have you booked yet ?
You can get a private boat to pick you up at Denarau and take you to Cloudbreak but it would cost a fortune as it would be an hour boatride, wait for you, then take you back. It would be a whole day adventure.
The best spot to stay is Plantation Island as it is about 10 k's to Namotu Is where Cloudbreak is. They take daily boats to Namotu.

Surf Fiji or Fihiji Surf will do this for $100 a day...gtes less if there are more of you...they will pick you up at the hotel and take you out all day...takes about 45 minutes to get to Cloudbreak they ususally have both a surf guide and boat driver....

Thanks for that. Big help. I am not booked at the moment but focus is a family holiday and found a very nice place on mainland that is really much cheaper and nicer than out on the islands. Will only bother heading out if forecast is ok and likely have an indo trip during the year regardless.

For anyone interested also just got these back from a resort.
www.malolosurf.com (30 - 40 minutes drive from us ) or
we have another one in Denarau ( 45 - 50 minutes drive from us) -
www.adrenalinfiji.com

Looking at about $120 for a day out which is not bad given distance.
Hope this helps others as well.
