You know they'll be others in the water, but it's a good few hours drive home if something were to go wrong.
Do you send it solo, or sit this one out and hope someone can make it with you on the next trip?

Go, take the punt, back yourself in.
If there will be others surfing you have "back up" Surfers will usually help surfers out if required to.

I surf by myself regularly. It may not be the smartest move.

Surfing by yourself is a rare treat. Enjoy it.

Solo is way to go - surf when you want and where you want for as long as you want .

Can be a tough call, if somewhere heavy or somewhere I am not confident in I would take the safe option, if there were a few crew out I might chance my arm and make sure to acquaint myself with the crew out there??

In most cases Surfers help surfers but have seen it go the other way a couple of times because it was not obvious it was a serious situation.

Agree , if you are surfing solo would need to be confident enough in your own ability to know when not to go out , recognise rips , etc . I have been surfing alone for last 5 years at least - surfed with 1 other Christmas time and 2 others last weekend otherwise all alone on the beach - unless the kids come with me which is a rare event these days .Too old paddle against the young ones for waves

Lucky enough to live in a relatively remote spot so not hard to avoid the crowds .
