With the summer small waves and seabreezes in full swing I struggle to find the energy to battle away on my shortboard. Instead of dropping $6-800 on a high volume fish, Im thinking of maybe getting a foamy softboard fish just to muck around on while im at the beach with the misses and friends. I get super bored just swimming, bodysurfing and lying on the beach and this could be a fun option to kill some time and also for the squeeze to have a crack on without any risk of injury to her or anyone nearby swimmers.
The Mullet fat cats and biscuits have been super popular this summer as well as the Softech rockets. Fun shapes for junky waves, paddle on well and fairly loose. Cheap bit of fun. www.mulletboards.com/ www.softechsoftboards.com/
I'm with Karlo, we had a soft board with plastic fins to get the kids started. Driving by Smiths one day the softy was in the car. I didn't have a wettie, or even boardies, but a nice little wave was coming through and pretty small crowd, so I grabbed the board, jumped in with the shorts I was wearing and had a great little session. They are super buoyant and easy to paddle, but limited in what you can do on them, but for a fun board, why not give it a go?
I'm selling a 6' el nino flow softboard, if you're interested? Bought for $250 at Star Surf. Would like $150 as I've only used it a few times, but open to neg.
