Not sure if I'm missing something here, but what's the point of soft surfboards.
I get it if your a beginner and don't want to hurt yourself.
Or if you own a surf school it would be the safest and easiest entry for beginners.
But for the average joe.
I know the marketing has them geared towards surfing the shore break etc
But they end up out the back with everyone else.
They surf like a pig even though they are advertised for performance
And the price is off the charts. Get more use out of a condom before it breaks than a Fanning soft top
You may as well just buy a normal board ( Whatever that is these days)
And everyone's favourite model, the Hypto Krypto has just been released just in time for Christmas as a soft top. For $750

I agree, the price is outrageous.
I'd have one if gifted for those overly low tide rocky sessions that one would balk at surfing on their treasured sled.
I've only surfed one for a couple of sloppy waves once and it was fun enough.

You know the weird thing is (and I'm happy to be corrected if I'm wrong), but AFAIK the Mick Fanning soft boards are basically an EPS / Epoxy surfboard with a foam skin ??

Speaking of soft boards, anyone seen these? Good price just wondering about the quality.

I feel drawn to the soft board revolution but i'm not sure why. The price is over the top. The scarbro surf school ones for under $200 bucks seem alright for beginners but I Don't see the point in paying over $500.00 for one.

You got a lot of people hyping them these days, JOB, Kalani Rob, Ben Gravy to name a few. They're reasonably priced in the US. I was tempted to grab a vanguard type shape in Hawaii at the start of the year for $200. Exchange was like 75c to the US$ back then so not so bad. But thats a big problem with a lot of overseas products these days, the cr@ppy exchange (US 65c) plus the transport to our remote part of the world.

I'm expecting the US$ to crash again next year during election time & next time it will be worse than 2008. Not a matter of if, only when. Plus the Ruskies, China, Braz & others planning for a new crypto currency to exchange with should hopefully all pan out better for good old Aussie. Last time the AU$ was actually exchanging above $1, up to about $1.08 if I remember correctly, was at least $1.05 for awhile anyway. With China & our other majority trading partners following a similar economic road to recovery our exports won't be too greatly effected by a strong AU$ hopefully. But I wouldn't doubt another big mining sector employment drop when it happens like in 2008.

In turn there will be a huge spike in people chasing waves along the Perth coast & supply & demand for all types of surfcraft will not initially lead to a decrease in the price of surfcraft until the globalists create a false flag event triggering world war 3 to refill the coffers.
