Hi all. I've got a trip booked to the Ments in August and will have 3 days spare in Bali before returning home.
I was looking at G land but I'm not getting any younger (43) and it looks heavy?
Any ideas, maybe Ulu or even G land if I can get a few without too many crowds?
Any suggestions appreciated

Wouldnt call gland too heavy if youve just done Ments!!! You can still get creamed in paradise

If you score the Ments then you won't give a hoot about surfing Bali. Suddenly you'll be back to 1of 40 in the line-up.
If your flying out of Padang to Bali, why not try and stay in Sumatra a few days longer and head down to Krui. Bit of a drive but better than dealing with Bali.

Lembongan could be a nice wind down.
As far as heaviness goes there's not too much that surpasses the Ments, if we're talkin board short temps.
Gets pretty farkin gnarly.
Pretty farkin regularly

Thanks guys. Might look at staying in Sumatra for something different. Will do my homework but again if any one has ideas on the area it would be great.

If you depart your Ments vessel near Padang, Krui is ~1000km south. Better off flying from Padang to Bandar Lampung, then 5-6 hr drive west. Even then does not seem worth it for 3 days.

I would just chill in Bali for the 3 days. Stay at a losmen at somewhere like Impossibles. Surf out the front or at Ulus at dawn and/or lunch when crowd is lower. Either that or go straight from Ngurah Rai to Lembongan. Lembongan is crowded too though and needs more swell than Ulus so you can get skunked there (spent 5 days there with zero surf 18 months back).
