Hey

I havent surfed alot since i was 17.. Ive now been surfing a fair bit but have been struggling on my board.

I'm 6 foot, 95kg.

My board is 6'3. the other diminsions ill have to grab. It si quite narrow and thin.

I wan to get a new board but not sure of the info i need.

When im out on my board i find it hard to paddle, to pick up speed and im struggling in a pack.

I mainly surf small city breaks in perth.

Any help would be great or any shapers on here i can come see would be even better.

Cheers

This is by no means a be all and end all -

I'm 6'5" and 100kg - 105kg (depending on the day)

I ride shortboards around the 6'10" x 20" x 2.5" mark

If you go to a shaper to have a custom board built they can help you find the right numbers depending on the info you tell them, it pays to be honest and don't bullsh1t them or you won't get the board you want.

You should definitely consider something longer and wider, go to a shaper, and be honest, they are the best people to give you advice on what you should be riding. Buy Aussie made too, too many cheap pop outs that are made in asia by people who have never seen the sea... a shaper in your area will know what makes a board work in the usual conditions of your area

Mate, best advice is to combine a visit to a shaper with an observation from a qualified surfing coach or instructor. This will be money well spent, and you can put both viewpoints together and come up with a board that suits your ability and style, with the conditions in your area.

6'6 105kgs intermediate surfer 6'10 x 19 7/8 x 2 7/8 locally made in osborne park and shaped by benton moran. because im not that talented at surfing I get less waves and harder to ride but when the waves get good (2/3 ft plus) its what the doctor ordered and what i asked for. He is a big dude and shapes boards for bigger blokes. Was sick of buying whatever looked good on the rack and it not working for me, and wont be doing it again.

In scabs:

DA Lewey via Murray Smith.
Chris McKenzie (Oceanline) via Scarborough Longboards...
Not sure if the Surf Boardroom can get you a locally shaped board. They probably can.
Or you could send a PM to "DEL" (Steve Del Rosso) on this forum.

If you want to talk to someone about a board in Scabs, I'd recommend talking to Murray Smith. He knows his stuff.
