Yeah, not a fan of the cams anywhere in Aussie.
Some of my best memories growing up were jumping in the car with ya crew at 5:30am,with as many boards and bodys you could squash into ya mums old volvo,
to check the local to see the conditions, swell size, wind direction ect.
Then make a decision which way to head,
Might take an hour of driving, bakery pie stop, wind the windows down cause someone farted, checking spots, laughing and acting like idiots till we found the best, uncrowded spot to surf.
Half the fun was hanging with ya mates looking for it, being social.
Now crew just sit at home in front of their computers and say,"na,,,looks a bit small or windy". And dont get wet.
Or when they do turn up somewhere thats cracking, their on their mobile telling the crew that are too lazy to get up and look around, that its going off at spot x, ring everyone else and get down here.
When you go out searching,,, you always end up going for a paddle somewhere , and have a laugh along the way searching for it.Good adventures.

If some of ya mates slept in and missed it, we never rang them and told them its going off. We would ring after a good sesion and say "You snooze, you loose"

As much as I love technology, I think it has not been good for surfing.
Back before interweb,, if you found a piece of paradise in indo with perfect waves, it took many years before it was slowly found out and became crowded. Then you could search for another spot.
Now if a hot spot is found it is knowen world wide in minutes.Goggle earth shows the whole coast line everywhere.
Gone are the days of searching , doing it hard for weeks trying to get to some little bit of unknowen coast line, to be rewarded with a bit of paradise perfect waves with no one around,,,,, anywhere in the world.

Glad I got to see the some of those days before interweb tec killed them.
Wow,,,I think I am now offically old, makeing really long posts and saying,,"
back in my day before the interweb thingie"
