Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone has been to Rote with their family? I have 2 kids aged 6 and 8 and a non surfing wife. Is there enough to do on the island to keep everyone happy? we don't have to do things everyday but I'm just worried that playing on the beach will get old for the kids after a couple of days if that's all they have to do.

Thanks in advance

Your kids will probably get eaten by pigs playing on the beach ...

But more seriously ...

Just got back this week.

In front the beach not really for swimming. At one of the better accommodation places, wife and kids may be ok if happy to be in the pool all day and not do much else.

Still a bit of a missions to get to as well, so you will need patient wife, and patient kids for the journey.

Contact Dean at Villa Santai and have a chat with him. There's snorkelling paddle boards, fishing and surfing and A few sites to see on the island if you happy to travel by scooter. Couple of bars on the front and a few along the main road. But very quiet, no nightlife or shopping. Oh and the animals just wander around. Could be a novelty for kids.
Monkeys can be spotted on the road heading to Boa
It is a bit of a mission getting there

Thanks for the replies, had a chat with Dean at Villa Santai and he was very nice and informative, We decided against Rote for now though just for the mission to get there with the kids....maybe in another couple of years.
