Kelly got knocked out in round three by Raoni Monterio, Door just opened a bit more for Parko, Fanning and Jon Jon. Should be a good and close end to the year. Heres' hoping for an aussie title.........

With Fanning gone it just got even more interesting.

I wonder if the Parko John John heat coming up will be looked back at as the pivotal world title decider for the year.

Amazing place that can you go from the muck that Kelly got to surf to the kegs in the afternoon.

yea conditions changed for the better, poor old Kelly had a sook!! "I shouldn't have even turned up or paddled out" !! or something along those lines. Door is wide open for parko to gain some distance now as Mick got knocked in round 5. Hopefully he will get past John florence and shake the bridesmaid tag. Could be a real pivotal heat. Parko and Kelly both charge in Hawaii to. Very Interesting........................................

I think the earlier losses for Fanning and Slater are game changes for Parko and John John

One of these guys is going to get a 5th and one either 3, 2 or a 1st

At the moment John John is dropping a 13 and 9

Parko 9 and 5

So both adding a keeper score

I think its critical for Parko to get through this one past John John as steamer lane seems more high performance and then you go to John John's back yard at Pipe

Are you talking about his final wave? I think perhaps wasnt the 8.something that it was given. But it was definitely close to the 7.55 that he needed.

Shame about parko, he got destroyed in his semi.

Some pretty good little barrels charging through.

I watched it live and thought Medina should of taken it out,

the claim by Julian on that last wave was pretty ave,

i am cool with it though, as it is a subjective sport

But some of the Brazillain dudes are fully angry about it and are threatening violence against the Aussies !

Hardcore.

No chance his wave on the buzzer was an 8. Average cover up with 2 half turns. More like a 6 I reckon.

I lost interest in the final after Parko went out.

Normally not that interested in rankings but this time I started doing all the calculations taking out the top fours two worst results. Geez what a geek.

Parko needs to keep doing what he is doing which is quarters and above to win the title unless one of the other three get on a role and win the last two comps

It will be decided at Pipe which is great

just seen the footage of the final score being read out and wilson holding up the trophy, medina is a bit of a sore loser, couldn't even celebrate, little brat just walked off the podium. The prick should be stoked, look what he does for a living, people would kill to have a job like that. that aside seeing people stoked down south yesterday surfing great waves, smiles all round,no agro. that to me is what surfing is all about

Typical Brasilians, always hassling never really friendly in the water and always full of themselves, Medina scored a ten in round one that wasn't anywhere near the ten dropped by hobgood on the same day, he got a barrel and wasn't actually that deep, you could see the front half of his board for the entire barrel. So he can't complain about JW's score, surfing is subjective. where did you get waves Dreads? We had a splash at Boranup and there were crew everywhere there but everyone was pretty cool out there. plenty of waves.

Classic!! dunno why you would spend money on a trip to surf in Brazil! Funny the way they think, especially when the judging panel has 1 aussie, 1 brazilian, a yank a saffer and a kiwi!! Great find JB!! what an angry ant!!

I agree it was probably atleast .5 a point to high

Medina's 7.47 had a 4 sec barrel which wasn't overly deep with a softish lip belt at the end.

Where Julians 8.43 was a 3 sec deeper barrel on a more critical take off and then threw a half turn and then finishing with freeing the fins... seems pretty elementary to me that it was atleast better then a 7.47

Medina only got one barrel where as Wilson got two and when its a barrel comp thats what you get scored on. If its hi performance like Lowers etc airs get scored heaps higher.

Don't they have video review..
I reckon the simple fact that it looks different when your on the Beach compared to the net or tv is probably the reason it differs most of the time, sure they make mistakes but. The judges sit ther all event and score to the conditions so I'm willing to trust that most of the time the get it right.

And who cares..... An Aussie beat a brazo..... And the Aussies didn't bitch and winge when it was thought that Medina was over scored last year in France when he beat JW in the final, maybe karma just evened it out.

Ask yourself this -

Was the contest an air show? No.

Was it a beach break barrel contest? Yes.

/\ pretty sure that was the point haha
on that note - anyone else call mates who have a slightly higher than acceptable froth/hassling/paddle intensity in the water "brazzo"?
usually has the desired effect of changing their behaviourial pattern when you start calling it out, or discussing with the guy next to you if he knows who rocked up with the brazzo on the inside all the time haha
doesn't work so well in the ments or bali...

I think a lot of people will be hoping Medina doesn't ever win a world title after his show of poor sportsmanship
On the other hand Kolohe Andino was carrying on like a spoilt brat in Fiji breaking off the nose of his board with his fist
Embarrassing
But seems to have pulled his head in, acting with more humility when he's been beaten in recent events
I guess nobody likes a sore loser no matter what sport

Pfft crew have been punching their own boards since the dawn of time. I've seen Parko, Fanning, even Kelly throw a few depressions in their sticks...Sometimes you know in yourself you want to do it after you kook a take off or bog a turn knowing that 99% of the time you'd make it.

The game these days is played in high stakes, theres nothing wrong with venting when you know you could have done better.

You can feel for Medina but it was disappointing to see him walk off the stage the way he did.

If anything its good to see a bit of a pulse in the ASP\WCT for a change.
