started ****...got good and is now rubbish again....what i do like is watching the pros catching waves from the beginning in difficult waves.ie:hand placement on pop up,angles they take and body position on their board, something you dont see in hyped up vids...maybe its just me that likes it

Nah I think most people enjoy seeing a pro ride a wave from start to finish. Easier to identify with what they are doing than just watching rapid cuts of people boosting big airs.

Anyhoo...waves are pretty crap at Pipe so I might actually go to work today haha

I managed to catch the state board riders at Trigg the other week, and it was awesome to see Taj absolutely destroy 1foot slop. The gulf between a 'really good' local ripper and someone on the world tour is astronomical!

The difference is huge, I once saw Taj competing at Rabbits in a club comp.

Some good waves coming through with most guys getting on a couple of really good turns and hitting the closeout section.

Everyone going right all day...Taj paddles out and starts going left. Was getting waves half the height but getting about 5-6 turns in and then landing little clean airs - everyone had the same look on their faces ha ha

A couple tried to do the same after him but did not have it as wired...absolute pro!

I surfed with him once about two years ago at Yals. Didn't realize it was him at first until I saw how good he was. Some people just don't have to even think at all about what they're doing on a wave. He's a great bloke out out of the water too. Never seemed to let it all go to his head.

A few years ago (maybe 10 or so), we watched Taj take off on what we thought was a Rabbits semi-closeout. We didn't think he'd made the first section, let alone the racey sections past that, but sure enough popped out way way down the beach. Travelled deep enough the whole way that we had no idea he was still in there. Hoots and disbelief all round.

You cant teach that! Also seen Jake Patterson own Rabbits on a big solid day. Going deeper than the lids and making it. 3 deep strokes and then straight into behind the lip takeoff - awesome to watch!

Great surfers + great waves = amazing possibilities ...Tony Hardy at Mainbreak late bottom turning into Baz's on his self shaped single fins. Occy tail sliding off the top into a cutback & slotting into the baz over the surgeons. Dave Macaulay carving up big Margs, with no one else out, but plenty watching from the carpark. Simon Law switch footing inside the barrel at South Point...such an awesome place for seeing epic spectacles of sheer awesome
