What's with Sea Breeze swell forecasts recently for Perth/WA - so wrong and off the mark .... today actual swell is about half the forecast 3+m which is still showing on the swell graph - reality colliding with a dud forecast ... same thing happened last Friday when I was off work and planning a short trip up the coast to a special spot.... but then the actual swell was half what was forecast and had continued to be shown on the swell graph - come on Seabreeze get your act together - I use you to plan an important part of my life 4--to-5 days ahead!!!

Its a forcast based on a model, if the numbers dont add up neither does the weather. Read all the forcast not just the first graph.

Learn to read synoptic charts, old school. Base your interpretation on local knowledge gained through experience.
With a little work you will get it right more often than being served up a plate of fast food forecast.

Yeah there are a few subtle things to look for that can expose a dud forecast, works both ways, I have scored on more than a few occasions when the forecast shows crap and have picked up that it will be really good.

THe boys are right, experience in the spots you surf is also a given.

I love the false forecast

Well if it is indeed tuesday then it's pretty spot on so far.

Legion is spot on.

Learn the science behind the forecast, look at the data, make your own mind up.

You're not wrong ELngbrdr!

It's widely accepted that Seabreeze has been off the mark with it's forecasts for a long time! I usually look through about four or five different weather sites then make my determination. Failing that, the synoptic chart in the paper always tells the story. Aside from the same core group of nuff nuffs that seemingly post everyday, Seabreeze definitely has the best forum!

Why use the synoptic in the paper when you can use the synoptic chart provided by SB, which is taken from BOM?
I never read the printed paper but I am going to assume their synoptic charts are based off the exact same sounding data.

Genuinely curious, not starting a 5hit storm for the sake of it.

Without us nuff nuffs there would be no posts at all. It's a very quiet forum compared to most. And the censorship sucks. It's like a Hillsong congregation in here (some of the sub-fora more than others).

^^^^ agreed Legion. I'm really just a casual observer of seabreeze, but find the banter from the usuals most entertaining and informative.
Keep up the good work guys (you know who you are) I think JA was wrong there's at least 10 names I can think of

Not quite.

The forecast is almost always correct for Rottnest. Check Rotto winds and swell next time you think it's off - my bet is that it will be pretty much right.

The forecast caters for all water users, not just those on the mainland. This information is important for boats fishing off the mainland. As you say there are other sources for more specific information about inshore waters.
