I'm off to bali in a few weeks with the old 'ball and chain' to celebrate her birthday.

The last few times i've been there i've either done the boys trip group accommodation or stayed at a budget surf homestay.

Can anyone recommend a nice hotel that's good value, preferably on the beach so i can sneak away early in the morning for a paddle before the noise starts...

Thanks in advance :)

My favourite place at the end of Jalan Segara got knocked down Feb last year. The missus & I stayed at the Ramada Bintang last September & it was nice, but overpriced imo. You can stay in their sister hotel just out front closer to Jalan Kartika & still use the Ramada Facilities. Basically the big pool & walk straight through onto the beach to head out on one of Blackie's boats to one of the Tuban reef surf breaks. Its called Bintang Kuta Hotel

& has nicer (newer) rooms. Pools not as warm coz its shaded by the surrounding hotel a lot. Discovery mall is 10 mins walk Nth & the new mall is 5 mins South. Plenty of massages, shops & restaurants close by to entertain the missus, but not as in your face like Kuta/Legian.

The bali garden in kuta is also worth a look.
It's beachfront opposite waterbom park, a short walk to the boats to kuta reef and wander down on the high tide to the beachies.
Good pool, good food, good rooms, good price.
