My brother in law has been there. He raved about the quality of the surf and friendliness of the locals and all around a great experience. It was expensive though.

Have fun

yes Nusa is all time but tru is exxy.
try Tupira for a heaps cheaper alternative and awesome joint - www.tupirasurfclub.com tupira is out of Madang and highly highly recommended for sure
anyone else been here? its the best joint ever eh!! def a place to hit up. 9 diff breaks and i think at the moment they only take like 10 people at a time so there is no crew int he line up with you - its the best eh n heaps to do after surfing......def rated highly, the break straight out the front is classic right hand reef break that works in small to solid and is awesome but then others to choose from as well
im back there again this season. great surf, best firendliest locals and really cruisey place. its not as flash as Nusa but then its way cheaper. like A$600 for 7 nights, 3 meals, transfers from teh airport and the local taxes ........yewwwwwww gotta love that eh!!!

Hey jjd , as fuall said , I have been to Nusa island retreat and it was great man. I didn t become pygmy king though , that was lies fuall ! The waves were great the first week but went flat on the last , mind you , it was in april .A Mates Dad was there the week before and they had 3-4 ft all week. The local guys there are the best , really friendly and i regard them as mates .Was sad to leave them and wish i could go back sooner , but seeing as i went when my boy was 8 weeks old , think it will be later ! Food was good but breaki and lunch a little stingy when your surfing twice a day . dinner was a1 , full buffet , seafood , curries etc ,as much as you could eat . The aussie guy , Shaun who runs it is a good bloke , but just watch the other guy (if still there )older dude tells you where your surfin , no you cant take boat fishin etc , tosser ! You pay good money so stand your ground with him and just go ask shaun ! He was cool as. Want to know anything else just post and will get back , cheers , Handi

Tupira is pretty good and the break right out the front of the guesthouse is all time when its working.

You probably get a better range of waves at Nusa and its a more luxurious experience (Tups was pretty basic when I went there a year ago) but it is exxy and you gotta get in early cause the place is booked out most of the season.

Both great experiences hit me up if you want more details
