In the interest of bringing some balance to the shark debate, they're not the only bitey critter to lose sleep over
Over Christmas I had a difference of opinion with a jumbo cray out the back of Carnac. In transferring from loop to boat it got hold of my finger. Turns out they pack a punch. Pics below - a couple are a bit gory. Interested to hear if anyone else has had a run in.

Haha!
Can't say i've ever been bitten by a cray and never really been to concerned about it. Usually more worried about their slapping tail. But after seeing that......
hope the crew at the ER informed you about infection. Cray poisioning occurs when the organisms that live on the cray get into your system, no doubt they cleaned the wound and probably gave you some anti-biotics, if not be sure to use some anti-septic stuff for the next week or so. I got poisioning a few times during my deckhand days and it sucks!
^^^True that cray infections are nasty & so are cuts from the spiky buggers. Thats why I always used gardening gloves when I was pulling them from my pots
@bakesy - yup the guys at Freo ED did a great job with the cleaning and stitching. They put me on a couple of different antibiotics to handle the normal infection risk as well as the additional nasties that might be in the cray's mouth. So far there's no sign of infection so fingers crossed that it'll all go smoothly from here
