Lembongan Reef Bungalows if you can get between bungalows 1-6. You can go higher if you don't mind heaps of steps, but the views pretty good from any of them...I surfed with a guy at Sri Lanka last January who said he had some fun uncrowded waves the week before at that time. Worst comes to the worst you'll have some awesome snorkling days. I'll have my fingers crossed for swell also coz I'll be on the opposite shore from the 2nd for 10 days

They also just finished a pretty cool looking place over at Cenigan when I was there last (Sept 2012). Picks up a lot more swell there, so could be a better option...then again, the ride over is fun as well.

^ haha yeah it is a bit cooler Dave...gotta be careful of the seaweed stakes on the inside & surf mid tide or there's an annoying sweep. I only surfed it on my own which was a bit spooky, should be more people there now probably which is good in my opinion.

Last time I was there missus & I bought some fanta's after riding out. The waves were almost as high as this place on this link. Playgrounds was like 12 foot face that day. The locals were cutting sick in double overhead+ Lacerations...I surfed Playgrounds lol

Gday Mick

Yeah, its all a bit of luck - heres hoping hey !!

I was in Nusa Dua last Jan and scored some small fun waves with few surfers in the lineups. Thought I'd have a crack at Lembongan this year

Did you surf Mushroom Beach or Ceningan Pt at Nusa Lembongan ???

The geography of Ceningan looks more promising for some swell at that time of the year !!

Will check out the Bungalows online

I havn't surfed Mushroom beach, just the main breaks plus Cenigan. There's also a couple of novelty waves round the corner from the Mangroves dive spot that's at the end of this video. Your unlikely to get few surfers in the 3 spots out front. Maybe if its small & you catch the ass end of the high tide & everyone has gone in you might. But because the high tide generally allows for a 4 to 5 hour window to surf, everyones surfing at the same time. From about the 1st to the 11th the tides about mid day to early arvo, so it will be busy...but after that the tide starts having kinda a double highs during the day. So would be better over there from the 12th onwards maybe. Mind you this is only from the perspective of tides, who knows what huey might bring. But your bound to have a great time anyway...cheers mate, Merry Chrissy & HNY to ya

My surfing footage is crap, coz its taken from beside the pool at Lembongan Reef Bungalows during after surf bintangs & without a tripod. I'm kicking myself now, but I couldn't motivate myself to climb my way back up to Bungalow 10 for it

hi guys, been lurking on the site many years. finally have something to contribute.

mate of mine owns a budget hotel opposite Shipwrecks. you can see the break from the bar & restaurant, and from a couple of the rooms. Two local boats anchor directly in front & will take you to any of the breaks. Also dive/snorkling/fishing trips are pretty cheap. You usually paddle/wade back if you're surfing Shipwrecks. Other breaks they'll either hang around or arrange a time to come back for you.

wind is generally onshore in January, but mornings especially can be light or glassy. crowds won't be anything like high season. It's easy to get around & you'll get plenty of waves.

Brian's the main man. most of the staff are locals. All types of food but Aussie standards re cleanliness, etc. Have fun.
