All these fancy names mean nothing to me , guess Im a bit behind the times ;) Talk to me about specific dimentions ,concave, body weights , surfing abilities ect and I can more than keep up.

I cant help wondering how many people have gone out and bought a high perforance board with a sexy name that has been generalised and marketed into a production line,,,meanwhile not riding the right board for them.

I dont know , just a thought? Like I say Im a bit behind

+ 1 ...^^^^

the other great misnomer is volume ,i am nit picking, should really be measured as density.....while it is helpful to compare like materials/shapes actual volume doesn't really tell you what something floats like.
A 35 litre esky or 35 litre block of cement aint gonna go like 35 litre surfboard.....

Thanks for that!

With my last two boards being off-the-shelf less than 12 months ago, I am looking at trading both in for a couple of fresh SDR sticks.

No idea how I got red thumbed for my comment above. Perhaps i've inadvertantly mentioned a 'secret' spot somewhere north of Scarbs...

Back on topic, I've had hypto krypto's, dumpster divers, sweet potatos, sub scorchers and blak boxes amongst others. For perth waves, the Skud that Dave at Katana has built for me is far and away a better ride then any of those mentioned.

I've put a few battle scars on it over the last few months, but it rides so well I got Dave to make me another one.

Theres a lot be said for seeing a local shaper who has spent a lifetime surfing the same breaks that you do...
