Looking to get new shorty. Out grown the board I have had for last few years. Looking for a one board to do it all type board.

85 kg, 6 ft tall, intermediate level

Surf mainly beachies in 2 to 5ft, but occasional point action around tassie or some wild west coast action.

Been leaning towards a fish style but not sold on it yet, but looking for something that paddles well but you can rip some turns when you want it to.

Any suggestions

Some of those boards look really good.

What about Al Merrick The Flyer II or 7s Super Fish. Anyone got any feedback on either of those boards.

While flicking through I also saw The Gravy, similar to the biscuit that appeared to be a good comprimise between flat and slow waves - to fast and peaky waves.

Why not a local mate? You get a good reliable stick and most of the time, better priced/ extras and discounts. Not to mention you'd be helping the local economy. Quick google shows a few around Tassie that I'm sure would know much more about making a board to the surf conditions you paddle out in than something off the shelf.

No offense to any shapers on here as I know that some of them make really good boards but the 2 x CI boards that I am currently riding **** all over anything I have had from a local guy...I have been getting customs for over 20 years and none of them even come close to the build quailty and performance of the CI's...just my humble opinion

I guess i figured a production board is a know thing and a shaped board is basically a this should be good? But unknown to some degree.

Having said that we have a popular surfer and shaper not far from where i live that once i have a idea of the sort of thing im interested in, I plan on popping into his shop and seeing what he is able to do and his suggestions.

Cheers for the replys so far.

forget the gravy - my bro has one and it is certainly fun in mush or fat waves, but won't let you perform in any kind of step up conditions...

local shaper all the way. my compromise board is from oceanline - very similar dims to what katana has thrown out there - it's all about where the foam goes though... good luck
