Dropped in to see Dave today to have a gander at my newby he ploughed out this morning. For a bit of background on me, I'm 6ft and 110kg and a kneelo, so my boards have a bit of volume.
I've gone from 6'2" to 6'4" PU boards down to 5'10" epoxies from Dave and still feel confident to go smaller. This is my third board from Dave in the last 6 or 8 months, first two both 5'10" with different bottom concaves and planshape.
This one is 5'4" by 23 1/4" by 2 3/4" single into double bowled concave, diamond tailed quad.
Built for 2-4ft dredging beachies.
Should be fast as hell and loose as a goose.
For those of you who are looking at Firewire's etc drop in and have a chat with Dave, similar construction methods to Firewire's top end boards but built to suit you.
Couple of links to the first couple of boards Dave built for me too

Yeah, Katana in Osy Park Bakesy.

Suba, definately worth a look if you want something ultra short, epoxies have so much more float than PU.
This'll be my first board under 5'6" in 30+kilos

thanks smicko, been using Friar Tuck's for years and very happy but the freight costs are hurting a bit. Might just add that the back end looks a little "bland", perhaps there is some work to be done? I'll send a couple of pics of my last board, Parke's got creative with it and it goes better than anything I've ever had, used to only having pintails but went in a different direction with this one, looking forward to really testing it at Desert Point in October (frothing!!) Being in the same weight division though I'd like to explore the ideas you've shown in this board.

Yeah still needs a lot of finishing Bakesy, this is just the raw planshape. Will post more pics as it progresses. Not a board I'd be too keen on taking for a paddle at Deserts. The timber deck pintail would be the weapon of choice there.

here ya go

and yes got the pintail in the bag for DP, however, this board saw its first wave at Jakes, 4-6 inside section going off, it holds like a pinny and for mine even better on the takeoff, it actually caused me to do some stuff I shouldn't have but more often than not got me through it, never had these channel things before, could your guy do this?

And the end result...
the black you can see coming through the wood skin is carbon, lots of flex and rebound out of turns. Well that's the idea anyway.

Concaves are the way forward Doggie, it's like dropping a three litre boxster in a Beetle, goes like stink but can be fun keeping in a straight line. Had a hoot on this thing today in suck little lefts.
Legion I reckon this thing would make a sick little stand up fish, it takes my 105kg easy.
