Yeah yeah massive balls for being out there( with a ski, half points) but as far as spectator value it doesn't even come close to the other big players... It gets points for basically being a monstrous beachie with no defined channel but they hardly make the bottom of the thing... How can you call a wav the biggest ever surfed when you only ride the top half?
And what's with the bolting for the shoulder all the time?
Is this the euro influence coming about?

Too true....it looked embarrassing....as soon as it hinted at breaking some of em would pull off the wave.

+1

if it doesn't break, you're riding swell not a wave.

pretty weak compared to Dorian et al paddling massive Jaws, Cloudbreak, Chopes etc.

Ha i was thinking the same but didnt want to say anything so i wouldnt upset anyone! It's really not close to any of the other big wave spots! Sure they have balls and huge skills but it just aint the same to watch.....

The above being said....I reckon it would be he'll fun (and safe) to ride a giant swell before it broke. I probably would be to embarrassed to post a video of it though.

Haha so.you could.confidently stay upright on a board at 70 clicks with all that water moving and just pull off and call it safe? I will take you for a skate at 60 and you would be shsitting and that is far easier than what these blokes are doing....post some footage up.everyone before you start bagging them and telling the world how easy it is...and for being embarrassed, well that should be you internet critics

i wish skating at 60km was way safer than surfing those waves, but with some of the potholes on my local roads

Yep - he got bounced! Felt sorry for the bloke at 2:10 - I reckon he would have copped a pasting. The bloke pulling in at 4:11 must have gonards the size of soccer balls !

Great post SP - thanks!
