Mick Fanning has emerged as the clear standout from the first sessions of what is predicted to become an historic run of swell thanks to tropical cyclone Winston.

been on holidays and have been surfing this stretch. Waves have been on for weeks.
Mick surfed like a world champ but so did nearly everyone able to jag a gem in the most hectic crazed packed conditions I've ever seen.
Less but numbers still remained through the night with the full moon.
footage from the last few weeks will show near perfection, which will excite and bring even more.
If your drawn, (up to it) and want a piece be patient (enjoy the stoke of others).

See him dropping in on a couple of guys. No respect, typical gold coast attitude.

You have to wonder how many of the guys whinging though actually drop in on other surfers themselves, especially ones not as good as themselves .. Is it just someone better than themselves is repaying the favour. Either way its poor form

He really is getting a bad name

Plus he gets videoed more than most surfers ever would. Chances are someone will catch him doing it.

Unfortunately that's how it goes out there. Its not even an enjoyable place to surf anymore. Spend 2 hours paddling and get 2 waves..... no thanks. The aggro in the water is repulsive and very unforgiving. If you paddle out there , expect to be dropped in on! Its the only way to get a wave. Nice guys do finish last on the superbank. Its packed out before the sun rises and if you are lucky enough to get a wave , you find your self constantly yelling at all the plebs and other rude pricks trying to paddle in down the line .

Micks just the unlucky one who got caught cause as always all eyes are on him. Unfortunately dropping in is a way of life out there. Accept it or go surf somewhere else.

First place that should get surf umpires. Make it so you have to show I.d. to get in the water then red card for a drop in offence and kick em out for the rest of the day. Reduce the crowds pretty quick that way! Pro's not excluded.

You are dead right. There would be a million drop ins when that place is working. The photos of crowds are unbelievable. MF is just more recognisable than the everyday punters doing the same thing

It's also pretty easy to call someone out on social media.
Id like to think the Gold coast locals have the balls to confront MF rather just sooking behind his back.
But how crowded is too crowded before you have to resort to these tactics.
With all the footage and the all time best calls talking it up, is going to keep the hordes coming.
Sadly this is the way it's going to be until the end of time.

Haha I reckon it's great that a local sits way deeper and pulls in while an ex world champ sits on the shoulder waiting for a glory shot.
