Mauritius to surf or not

Hey
Im Heading to Mauritius for a week on transit to the UK and was wondering if any one had experience of surfing here?
Ive done research that suggest Reunion Island is a no go, is this correct
have any of you fine people got any thoughts or suggestion to help

Yeh mate there's good surf there one eye and tamarin to the south both fun waves take the board 4 sure

I was there for a week 10yrs ago and did not see a ripple... I think it's very seasonal. NIce place to holiday though.

Depends what side of island your on as well one eye didn't drop below head high the whole 2 weeks I was there , the last day was huge like triple head high. Super shallow wave bit sectiony and the locals are mongrels but you'd still be spewing sitting in front of it and not having a board with ya

I heard that about the locals at Mauritius as well.
Your also right about Reunion. Too many shark attacks.
Apparently you'll still be ok with a RPELA

The best when local works and the worse when they are surfing. Basically if they are more than three of them forget about surfing, couldn't even reach the peak and got threat with insult and fist not worth fighting. If you have time worth exploring there are other options locals don't bother surfing.

Thanks everyone for the info. defiantly going to take a board and see how I go! a little concerned about over friendly locals but hey see if I can find a few waves which doesn't result in me getting a slap. always sad when I read that sort of thing
