IT is my opinion the Marg Pro was cancelled because of the forecasted weather. Yes i get they used the sharks as the reason, but if the forecast had been favourable things may have been very different.

I really hope it either massive and the Brazilians get smacked or the weather is **** with no waves..Shame on the WSL for the circus they are turning into

They've finished the comp in bad weather before. Wasn't the weather they basically had 0 choice to run it once medina etc had there dummy spit on insta

It was predicted at 35 knots on shore..

The real reason they cancelled it is because of sharks.
I know this as it is contained in the press release, on the news, across social media.
dont think that they will run it at ulus this year and not consider running it there again next year.
they won't return here and it is solely because of sharks.
look admittedly the Margaret river leg has only hung in the last few years by a whisker.
wholly and solely the sharks ended it this year and likely will stop it from returning

Oh and you think Medina was only worried about sharks, not about the fact he never finishes any good and had Jack Robinson coming up..He is a sook and showed his colours. If it was all about sharks, then they would also cancel Brazil, check out their amount of attacks compared to ours..Having said all that, i guess the press and media moguls did their job, because clearly some people bought it..

Absolutely there is certainty in what you say, jack Robinson would of smoked Medina, there is not a surfer in the top 44 that would beat him at north point or box ( yep the entire 44)
medina never makes finals and Margie's is a heavy water moving lump. Yes the weather looked average but they have finished the Margie's in 1 foot slop before and also in 15 foot wind waves breaking through to the river mouth.
whilst the forecast was average it still would of had more push size and entertainment than what we will see in Brazil......

They have said they will be back next year but I will only believe it when it happens.
Yeah the media sold a story but it didn't need to be pumped up, 2 shark attacks in two days is plenty enough to justify the call that was made and broadcast across the world on why they cancelled.
Absolutey everyone knows there are other factors at play but and it's a big but the official story is true and the media lapped it up
