Sw crowds are ridiculous
Relatively speaking, hardly. I 'shared' Yalls with no more than half a dozen people the entire weekend. Even supertubes had that amount or less whenever I saw it.
I'll tell you what is ridiculous; North Point. During competition hours on Saturday arvo, I got to there to see a handful of people. Some alright sized waves coming through. I got in the water at the same time as Kai Otton, who was making some brilliant rides. I joined in the bunch on the take off rock coz it was actually cruzey for once. 10mins later, word had gotten round that pros were in the water, so yet more pros got in the water. Jack Freestone, Connor Coffin, Alana Blanchette to name a few. That's when it got stupid. Because they've all got their egos and all trying to push each other, no wave was going unmolested. And because their boards are so highly tuned to their needs, they could be standing on a wave well before joe public was even sure he had a chance. I moved down the line to see if I could get any scraps. I two hours I got one sad little wave. That is ridiculous. What's worse is that Jack was complaining out loud about how crap it was and that he was sad he had to wait out another two hours before his team meeting prior to flying to Bells. Man that pissed me off! Get out of the bloody water and let others who actually want these waves have a chance!
On a positive note, Alana clearly didn't want to hassle either and she came and joined me out wide.

Now lets just say I'm more of a boobs guy than a butt guy, but dangit that ass could turn a gay guy straight in a nanosecond!

Oh yeah, and when Jack was on a wave, Connor was duckdiving it. Jack clearly didn't stall enough coz his fin ripped through Connor's foot. This was just after I got out. As I was walked on the path towards the car, Connor was paddling around to the boat ramp with fellow surfers telling support crew that it looked 'all rank and white' (through to the tendons, I suppose). Interesting way to end a session!
