Think its a bit small for the lefts, they get really fat & cutbacky when its small.

Damn would have liked to have seen Maca Jnr get a few waves.

Highlight of the day was seeing Medinas face when 5 or 6 fins popped up in front of him

Hate to say it but Italo impressed me in his heat, Braz is so strong right now. I think Oz is like in transitional period to a new bunch of rippers. Will be interesting when Jack makes it back...Good to see Kanoa carrying on fine form after his win at Keramas, I like that guy after watching him on Jakes YT channel. Missus & I have put our names into next years Olympics tickets lucky dip for the first Olympics surf contest at Chiba & Kanoa looks to be the Japanese contender atm. I wonder who the first Australian too compete will be !?!

I thought Jacob Wilcox was grossly grossly underscored in his heat there is no way medina beat him..
I did enjoy italo heat and yes he surfed wellas much as that makes me choke up....

just really dissapointed in the judging in wilcoxheat, watch the replay and you may see what I see

Yeah they really seemed to be talking up Medina & talking down Wilcox. He was underscored for that first wave, compared to what the other guys were scored. Late takeoff under the lip, top turn, stall to wait for the wave to stand up & Medina to get out of the way & a nice big floater over that sucky section. Medina just had that backhand vert & finished with an incomplete 360. Somehow Silva was scored higher than both those waves with a couple of backhand snaps....I'd have to agree m8.

Tomorrow looks quite decent and a fair bit bigger I think they would be mad to run heats today, as farther said they might run a couple later but highly doubt it especially with the weekend being a long one here the wsl will want to extract all the weekend tourist dollars they can

Interesting day. The girls boards, some look almost a little too big..

Id laugh to see the Fisheries tub wash up on the rocks..

Overall they had some decent conditions & it was cool how they surfed the box again. Really would have liked to have seen big Margs in action though. Will allways remember that one when Tom Curren surfed a wave into the rivermouth & Pauline Mencer going over the falls on like a 30 foot face wave

i agree!
commentators were saying "solid conditions" etc in the morning of finals day, and i think it was like 1.75m at 14s on the nat buoy, so fun for them, but not even allowing her to show her true glory

Would like to have seen some North Point action.
But Box is always pretty entertaining, especially watching Jack Robbo and JJF surf it like a 3 foot beachy !!
