Anyone have or tried Lost Motivator or bottom feeder?
Looking to upgrade my small wave groveller I currently have a CI Pod.
I weigh around 90 kegs.

Thanks, think katana was answering my fin topic, yeah they are controller quads, they seem ok with a shim under them, they actually make a shim for them so you can buy either size tab. The 1/2 inch boxes for quads were brought out later as some HPs are to thin in the tail for the 3/4 or so I was told.

Yeh, the Pod is ok. It's not the fastest board of this type and doesn't surf too well vertically- tends to bog rail if you go straight up (for me anyway).
Having said that though, I had a lot of fun on it in double head plus Indo waves which was really surprising.
A mate was having the same problem with the Pod, then got a motivator and is stoked. I guess I want a few more opinions or better still some demos.

Is there many places in Perth you can demo shortboards?

I know some guys on the Lost Rocket and they rate it as a small wave board for WA because it retains some rocker. Motivator is described as a "Rocket step-down" with less rocker.

A lot of these grovel boards are fine if you are riding fat, mushy stuff due to the low/flat rockers. However I have found them not so suited to Perth beach breaks. The reason being that we don't really get fat, mushy beach breaks here. Even though the beachies may often be small, they're usually quite fast and steep, thus requiring a little more rocker than the big brand grovelers offer.

Depends what you're after in a small wave board but my last one from a local shaper went better than my current big brand board. Next time I'll be going back to the local shaper as they know local conditions.

That is one of the most valid posts ever on here.
I've given up ordering boards from the east as they just don't suit what I surf here.

I think Katana has demo boards.
