I wonder what his thoughts are on the overseas surfboard issue are.
When i went to his shop a few months ago to get some replacement fin plugs i had a good chat to him.
From our convesation i got the impression he wasnt so much against boards made overseas, but against "cheap Crappy made boards" Boards that are made cheap to suck people in, and only last 2 months. He said his boards are made to last 20+ Years, and he wont cut quality to lower retail prices, which makes business very hard, and its hard to get across to people why you should spent $1000+ on a board when you can buy a "cheap chinese rubbish for $250".
He drilled me over buying my first board- A jacks brand fish, but at the time i didnt know any better and it was only purchased to get me out in the water to see if the bug would bite before i bought a decent board. He told me if i wanted a reasonable quality board without paying too much to see him and he could get me in a NSP board (popout???) and apparently he has sold a few of them over the years.
I would of loved to buy one of his boards he had on the shelf, and if i had the money i would of- you can tell the quality but unfortunately i just didnt have the money, had it of been 2 years earlier (before i got a mortagage) i would of walked out of his shop with it under my arm that day
