Been using the Slingshot Surf Foils for a few weeks now. Just doing tow ins surf since we are lazy and have a ski.

Still stacking heaps but finally starting to get some decent longer runs. So much fun!!

Riding waves that no one is using off south straddie.

Found the H2 wing is great for waves above waist high and the H4 wing is great for almost any conditions.

I'm trying to learn on a H4 wing but l keep having troubles with the angle of the 'roll'.. once the top of the mast starts to go either left or right l find it hard to straighten it up again?

Make sure your feet are over the stringer line of the board , don't try and ride it like a normal short board. I don't use straps myself but they are very handy for putting your feet in the right spot which is a huge help.

Have you got the mast in the rear or forward position?

Out Surfing little lumps off Straddie on Wednesday. Riding from WAY out the back into the shore. It's a whole bunch of fun riding waves you would never normally think of surfing.

Foils are to surfing what roller blading is for skate boarding.
Gumtree will be stocked up with these contraptions shortly

My favourite part is the bit where no one else is around, my least favourite part is everything else.

That's what the sea sweepers used to say
And as you know they ended up in every other crowded line up.

One of the best things about surfing a shortboard, or even a longboard, is that it is essentially minimal. Board under your arm, off you go.

I would have thought the simplicity of short board surfing is its greatest weakness. You need much better quality waves and that forces everybody into the same locations and creates crowding and aggression and stupidity.

Anything that widens the pool of good ridable waves has to be a good thing. I am into my 3rd year of kite foiling and I can't imagine doing anything else. The fun factor is off the scale. I took my foil into the surf for a go without the kite and that was surprisingly successful. I will certainly be keeping an eye on developments in surf foiling.

As for complexity, my kite foil and board weighs less than 6kg complete. It goes together with 4 bolts. It's no more effort to assemble than screwing on some FCS fins.
