yeah Krui is a bit of a hole, but even if you don't stay there you tend to go there every few days to use the internet, get money, food etc. It's pretty central to all the waves.

It's a bit overrated I think
when it's on its good but most of the time it isn't

A few waves in the area (30 mins either way). Krui is a little dirty/dodgy.

Good for the reasons already mentioned.

Just a bit of perspective
The township/village of Krui is about half hr bemo ride from where most crew stay to surf
So you won't really have to worry about the state of the place
Ombak Indah and Andys place is the places to stay
Whatever you do don't stay at Andys
He is the reason they call Americans Seppoes
One of the worst examples of an expat I've ever seen

Lots of other places there too that are a lot cheaper. You can just rock up and sort something out.

I haven't been there this year, but spent a few months there the year before. There were a lot of days with North winds and staying in Krui would have been a better option as it is a lot closer to waves which handle north winds.

have a look at Mandiri beach club mate. Its cheap, about 15 min scooter to krui and picks up swell when no where else does. Awesome beachy and the boys that run the place are some of the best blokes ive met.

Mandiri is ok when there is no swell, but there are better beachies in this region. I wouldn't stay there but the boogers seem to like it

a mate of mine owns a place three houses up from Ombak indah. some mates just got back, they said a crew of 24 guys rolled up,
one bloke was bitching about the crowds
i was told road works to krui, trip taking now 1 hour.
my 2 cents, trade wind at beaches, krui is a hole, Ombak over rated with 8 surf camps at the point.
well every break has a camp. and a big drive to jennys and jimmys.
with this after a 7 hour drive from the airport, drive another 2 hours to jimmys
find it blown out drive another two hours back and find 20 guys on the point.

Pfffffffffft
