Took a decent wipeout today and managed to cork my fin on my leg (ouch) and ripped it off never to be seen again.

I've done smallish repairs on my board before, i was going to buy a new FCS plug and fin and just drop it in and glass it up, looks like they are originally glued in with a white glue?

Is their a product i can get to glue the plug in before i glass it, or do i just drop the new plug in with resin?

Thanks for looking.

I'm sorry to hear that you lost your leg. The board is also beyond repair. Send it to me and I'll see it gets an decent funeral

Google it. Recently did a leash plug in the same fashion and found plenty of how to's.

Edit:Fin plug/leash plug, whatever

That's an easy fix - even for a novice. Prob plenty of YouTube clips showing you how... use a fin as a jig to set the plug.

Thanks GPA, I had a look at some youtube videos and it doesnt look like rocket surgery, so im going to get another fin, plug some fcs plugset and give it a go.

Im actually liking the board with just 2 fins! It gets pretty loose but turns so much easier

If you have been surfing that board whilst the fin plug has been removed make sure you dry it out thoroughly before fixing it. I would probably leave it almost a week if it was me and it had been used as it appears in the photo. Leave the cover on it and just pull the tail out - leave the tail out in the sun but not the rest of the board.

I heard the other day that it is a good idea to scrap out that white glue stuff, so when you repair it it is going into the foam.

Not sure if it correct or not but worth researching I guess.

Thanks dawn, in the fcs booklet i downloaded its reccomended to jig it, router it out and start a fresh, i dont really want to buy a router and all that to do it so i was planning to use a sanding wheel on a dremel and just run that around untill all the old white stuff is gone, then use the new fin as a jig and set it in

Thats the right way to do it....you do not need a router - just get in there with a knife or similar and scrap it all out. The dremel will work perfectly for ya - just be easy on it as it will eat into the foam very easily.

Well on my venture to find a replacement fin plug (you have no idea how many shops i tried) I come across a bloke by the name of Len Dibben, who happened to give me a rheeming over the board i have! What can i say, i was clueless and just wanted to buy my first board, and listened to the **** advice from a bloke who wanted to sell me his junk :S

No doubt everyone on here has heard of Len- I was blown away, hes been hand shaping boards for over 50 years! Stepping into his factory felt like i was in the 60's..

Anyway, replacement plug acquired, i can go ahead repairing my "crappy Chinese junk board" for now, and at the same time save my pennys for a quality local shape :D

Great job. I have had my fair share of FCS plug mishaps, but have always been reticent to have a crack at fixing myself.

A bit of aggro in the line-up at Eureka last week damaged this board. Is it repairable?

I'd pay good money to have a surfboard with a shark bite in it.

That's crazy pressure to bit a board like that!
