A 5'11 x 18 x 2 1/5 board is for sale. I'm about 75-80kg and 5'10". I live in Perth, so I want something something that can do well here in winter. I'm also going to Bali in July. Would this board be alright for what Bali can dish out as well (never been there)?

To be honest with you it is a little small . For a guy your size you should be riding at least a 6,2" x 18 3/8' . You will definatley need a little more volume if you want to accomodate for winter ground swell or bali waves. What is your surfing ability?

I've been surfing for close to a decade, so definitely intermediate.

cool , dont be afraid of a little extra lenth and volume. It may feel a little wierd at the start but you will get used to it quickly. You will notice that you can draw and drive wider longer powerfull turns , higher top speed , less sliding in the barrel and you wont have to be taking the late drop all the time . Trust me bro - Riding small boards in bigger waves sucks big time.
Hope this helps. What does any one else think?

cheers kearnsy, you've basically confirmed for me what i was thinking. It's a bloody good board, given the condition it's in, but i don't want to be caught out on those bigger days. I ride a 6'1" DHD fish normally, and that's a fantastic board, but the length and other dimensions obviously wouldn't be too fitting for when its above head high. The board I'm after is shaped by Aido too, so it's kinda hard to say no to, but id rather not splurge on something that wont serve me well where i need it to. thanks again.

hey sparki, I think Kearnsey is right "don't be afraid of a little extra length and volume"...don't get caught up in the "smaller is better" syndrome...especially if your taking it to indo...you will adapt to it really quickly...and now days you will feel like it's allmost an unfair advantage

Sparks , just watch the 18 5/8 . Personally I wouldnt go over 18 1/2 for an all rounder. You said that you also had a fish which would be wide.
I dont want to confuse you or give any bad advice but wider wont hold its line on sucky face as well. I know that Im only talking about a fraction of an inch but you will notice it considering ur height and weight. The 6'3 part sounds great.
