dont winge about it and go somewhere else... controlling? good luck with that, with every man and his dog owning a surfboard around that area and when there is even a pulse of swell everyone is on it! I camped the other day at a break somewhere near perth hoping to get first waves and at 5.15 before it was even light there was 2 4wd full of bloke with boards so it defeated the purpose of camping! owell... there just needs to be more consistant swell and banks across more of the beachs( but mother nature needs to play the game ), it has been pretty dismal over the past few months... hence why trigg pt is always crowded!

A few artificial reefs between trigg and brighton might ease the pain.

So true, thing with Trigg is its a bit of a swell magnet, it seems to get more swell than north or south of the point so when its flat at 3rds its shoulder high at the point.

Any 'older' surfers remember the Point and Perth surf breaks to the north prior to the Hillary's boat Harbour being constructed?

The surfing population has increased whilst the number and consistencey of surf breaks between Sorrento and Cottesloe has decreased, anyone agree/disagree?.

I can remember when Swanbourne used to have winter banks, Watermans Bay had a winter bank in the bay itself and right hand wave at the northern end of the bay. Not great waves, but it used to spread the crowds out.

It's all cyclic. Swanbourne had banks last winter. City Beach had good banks last summer, none this summer. I used to surf Swanbourne in mid-summer as a grom in afternoon wind waves. I've noticed a few days this summer it's been alright with a few people out too. Not last summer though.

Brighton does't seem to get the banks like it used to. Artificial reefs or some groynes may create some more interesting bottom contours/banks. I doubt the lack of consistent surf breaks is very high on the Council/State Government priority list though, especially after the dismal result at Cable Stations.

Yea, Hillarys stopped all the sand flow to the south and screwed up alot of breaks, Toms used to be a right hander in front of the car park. Scarbough had good banks most of the time and Trigg would get more sand more of the time, I can remember surfing Trigg after school and its alot different then than now. Watermans used to break all the time and like you say an ok wave but it gave options that you just dont have now.

I agree, a few groynes between Peasholm St and Trigg 2nds would be a great idea. Maybe a bit longer than the City Beach groyne or even Cott length. It would make for nice beaches in summer (with little pockets sheltered from the sea breeze). It would make good banks in summer, with the sand driven by the sea breeze. It would contribute to better banks in winter (e.g. Cott can be the premier metro beach break in winter if the swell's up). Maybe even throw one or two in between Swanbourne and City Beach.
