excellent video,, but call me a cynic, I think..

.. as for the philosophy,,, ..mmmm,,, yeah,,, maybe.. suba might get it..

but a bit 60's or 70's?

peace, love, universal consciousness?

Until one rips your arm off in playful 'inquisition'..

and I know why the odd spearfisherman gets attacked, when you see them 'bait up' or 'berley up'.. bin there done that.

I dunno quirkus I'm a firm believer in the body language of fish. I've been fishing, surfing and to a lesser extent diving for over thirty years and you can tell when a shark is going to eat something, they arch their back, lift their pecs and put the pedal to the metal.

The thing that sets them off is vibrations, panic. You'll see it diving when fish and sharks are happily cruising around together and as soon as you put a spear through a fish and it does that "shimmy" it gets nailed. If you get an instant kill shot they may come and have a look but if you get that "shimmy" it's game over.

Same thing when fishing, as soon as you hook a fish and it starts to struggle, if there's a noah nearby it WILL get hammered.

I've been in the unfortunate position of having big sharks buzz me a couple of times surfing over the years and in one instance in particular I'm sure the only thing that saved me was not losing my $hit when I noticed a big, big bronzie doing that arching thing about 10m from me. I was 100+m off the beach and there was no way I was going to outrun it, so I casually paddled towards it and it relaxed and slunk off. I was lucky I did something before it put the pedal to the metal.

They're like dogs, as soon as they interpret fear they'll take advantage of the situation. Mind you that's not to say that there's anything you can do if one is coming at you jaws agape at 30knots either.

You're pretty much fcucked then.

I definitely get it. I mean sure, these videos tend to be a bit wanky and are filmed and cut together to be like that, but I can't really fault anything she said or did in the video. Having a moment like that in the water with a white shark were you can swim alongside it and not feel that fear that is so ingrained into us...that would be a highlight of one's life I would imagine. I've been in the water with white sharks before but have not be able to get over that almost uncontrollable desire to get the **** out of there, despite how I feel about them. With time and experience of reading their body language I'd like to think I can freedive with them without being scared one of these days. It's the same as people who are comfortable around wild lions I guess. Take Steve Irwin for example; he was never once bitten by a venomous snake because he knew how to be around them. He knew what they were doing and what their posturing was communicating.

I reckon good on her. She seems to be living an ideal lifestyle.
