I might as well kick it in the guts although i am still
trying to compile a list of boards i have owned.
Found this photo at Xmas time as my mum always
drags out the old photo albums whenever i go there!
Thankfully the slide projector has disappeared.
A Hanimex (finless)foamy that gave you a death rash to compliment your sunburn,
but you could destroy a range of unwary swimmers in the flags,
and do endless 360's if you stood up and held both rails ,
(I see Derek Hynd has finally followed my lead ).
The first fibreglass and probably the favourite/most versatile board i ever owned,
courtesy of my cousin and his mates who were trying to destroy it
by throwing it off the cliff at Zenith beach near Port Stephens.
A 6'6 hot buttered single fin , (formerly 6'10 but my cousin remodelled
the tail and i would have to repair it on a monthly basis
as most under 8's glassing skills don't really cut the mustard and
it would continue to crack and cut my feet to pieces) .
I used to scrape the wax off around the hot buttered rainbow logo because that
was the only part of the board that wasn't brown or browning
The glass on that board just got harder and harder as it aged,
i had it for about 3 years and sold it for the princely sum of $10.
That board handled any size wave i rode over that period
and really was a magic board considering my size and weight at that time.
I am always reminded of it when i see anyone on TV being interviewed
and saying they have no regrets in life ..
"If only i had never sold the 6'6........
The other board is my elder brothers 6'10 McCoy
which looked great but went like a pig .........
My 6'6 whipped it in every aspect on a daily basis
or that might just be wishful thinking in the competition
that comes with having an older brother.
I haven't wrapped a legrope like that since my arm got long
enough to fit around a board
cheers (few more old shots to come !!)
