Hey guys, a while back i posted on the forum asking for advice on what sort of rocker i should use on my hollow wood fish project. I thought id post a few pics of how its going.. yes i am a slow worker lol year 12 is a drag:(. i have finished the frame and now i am up to putting the dec and bottom on. I used western red cedar for the frame and i have glued 6mm planks of WRC together with epoxy to form the deck. Im using 4mm marine ply for the bottom cause i ran out of cedar oops.

That looks awsome, there sweet boards when there done.

I ran into a guy in Manly that makes his own hollow longboards and there works of art. He uses a couple different types of wood in his planking so you get these great color scheems.

Don't forget to crack the drain plug when you get it out surfing and you've been in the water for a bit

Lookin good!

one question: how are you going to shape the rails? surely they are not going to be square?

i copied the al merrick fishcuit shape loosley and i think it was DL who gave me the rocker measurememnts off his fish.

for the rails i have a block of balsa that im cutting into strips and then gluing them around the edge of the board, then ill just shape them with the orbital and a heavy grit.

i got the info for the from this guy who sells an online book. ill post a link when i get home from school.

cheers guys

Good idea with the balsa. Should be easier than bending wood around a frame.
