Anyone knows a good shaper kind of specialised in fish, twin fins or quad. I ride the lost rocket v3 6'1 36L but it needs a bit of size to perform well, i love those fish with this design in the photo, something like this board albumsurf.com/collections/utf but they are in the US (A friend showed me this brand)

I want a fish like this to cruise in small mushy surf, not looking to do any super fancy thing with it

Also anyone that has tried the RTT from Gary McNeill is veryyyy welcome to chat with me !! just worried about the twin fin, i tried the DHD mini twin fin and impossible to control the tail, was drifting straight away (also i m not a great surfer!)

I have a rasta torus that I've used a fair bit over the last couple of years, love surfing it, especially on clean fat waves...more refined than the average fish and has a lot of hold, no problem planting the back foot in waves under head high

Thanks for the comment curlzbean ! i am afraid this RTT is not a true fish, considering all positive comment on the board it s certainly great but i m looking for a real fish that goes well in small and weak beach break surf. How does the board go in those condition ? does it fly through flat areas and slow peeling off mushy waves?

Wouldn't call it a total grovel board like a baked potato....

i guess there is a fine line sometimes between fish and groveller as far as the waves they are made for

Do you want to cruise or be more active and pump and do turns? I have boards that do both and they are very different. The Neal Purchase Jr twin I have that looks like your pic is pretty good in small surf, but I wouldn't call it a cruiser. It needs a very active style to keep it moving. In truly gutless small surf it isn't the best board I have.

I guess it depends how weak the waves you are on are.

Good question thedrip! It s always nice to be a bit more active and work the wave i reckon but i m not at a level where i can do too much fancy thing as well, but obviously a board where i can still do smooth cut back, some bottom top turn, i dont want a cruiser like longboard for sure. but clearly i want something that goes well in waves that dont have much power, easy to catch and generate some speed.

I would like a fish to handle exactly this type of 2 waves

Jye Byrnes makes a nice fish, he has a few different variations.

Bit north of Sydney though.

You could also try Wilde at Mona Vale.

Thanks guys, good looking board here, i think i m falling for the DVS, the wasp model, just had a chat with the shaper, good connection. I just learned out of the blue that a friend of mine received this model as well a few weeks ago right after i talked to the shaper!!

It s not in Sydney but I think DVS is quite famous for his art. Anyone had one of his by any chance ?

yeah i saw this model and reviews but will slide out too much for me. I just saw tonight the wasp of my friend that he loves, look really good and fun easy board to ride in small surf

why do you want to sell your DVS?

A little big for me, and not getting much use. Doesn't seem to slide out, they're big find, kind of a cruisier style.

If you're not confident in your competence then don't get a fish for a groveller, there's far easier boards to ride. But you might not look as cool....
