Hey all seeing as the 15th of January is my birthday and I have a lot of frequent flyer points I've decided to book a ticket over to the goldy for a birthday surf. I hail from pretty isolated and lonely breaks in the south west in wa. Not very familiar with the goldy I know the crowded places but I'm looking for a bit more info on some more secluded less crowded breaks. I don't care how much snapper or d bar is pumping crowds and egos really get to me. Any info is much appreciated, cheers

You may be surprised how many waves you can get at Snapper. There are miles of beachies north of Kirra. Got nothing other than checking. I am sure locals know which bits are more consistent, but I just drive up and down. D'bah, has lots of waves and you may find it surprising how many you can get there. The northern end has a bit of punch too at times.

However, when I have been there in January it's been pretty fickle. Make sure you have a fish or a longboard. Even when Snapper is pretty solid you can still ride fish boards so I imagine the rest of the beachies are like that too.

I'm far from an expert (done five or six trips there in the last seven years) though so hopefully a few local boys chime in.
