Hey everyone, just wondering where you guys would suggest a good beginner spot be to work on my basic skills in the white wash and small waves over and over again that wouldnt be too busy?

I have only surfed about 2-3 times before and looking to learn over summer, and get to the beach as much as possible, Before & after work and on the weekends.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Southern points, stay in close and catch as many as your body can handle.
Snapper a big NO NO due to a very congested line up with no place to hide.

Thanks for the tips Macaha. Another Noobish Question. When's the best time to chase the clean waves usually? High, Low tides? Or does it not really matter at this stage when just starting out?

Points are best with a S or SE breeze/wind direction, mid to high tide to start you off but low would be fine if your catching white wash.

I would suggest the Currumbin alley .... palm beach area. As you should have running sandbanks there. Rules 1. Dont try to paddle in front of an oncoming surfer. Paddle into the white water behind him. IT will hurt you less that the thumping your likely to receive on the beach later. 2. learner tip... open your eyes when under the water. It will help keep you calm and less disorientated. 3. Paddle exercises. along the beach, up the creek, anywere, these are muscles you will have to develop. 4. Most importantly. Have fun.
