My favorite repair tool. So putting the fish in the garage, guess what I have found needing repairs? Another fin plug Am just having no luck, thats basically all my boards in the past year I have had where I have done damage from the fish to the long board! It's basically the last of 3 plugs on 1 side for a large twin fin. Good thing is I can just chuck a normal fin in using just the two.

So my question is how long will trusty ole gaffe tape last on something like this? I know repairs are in order but after my last effort, I'd rather wait til I can take it to the professionals or a Doggie that knows his stuff Any one ever had a board where they have left gaffe tape on it and never needed a repair?

My mates do it all the time because they know if I see it I rip it off and take their boards and fix them. Gaffa lets just as much water in and dosnt let it out. Emergency repair only!!

Not long. Best use clear Mylar Tape if you can get it. Stays on until you physically take it off. Another is to use a surfboard logo sticker. Obviously clean the area first with a solvent.

Yes, with Mylar tape ... gaffer tape contains threads and leaks (as Doggie said) and is useless, plumbers tape will be OK for a few surfs at best.

Mylar is good but the surface must be clean and it cab be difficult on rails ect.
The clear ding tape most shops sell is mylar from memory and is very good but dont let the roll drop in the sand and always use scissors to cut it.
Nulla is onto it

Cheers Nulla, may pop into the store and look for those tapes otherwise chuck a sticker on that fin plug.

If not, you might find me over doggie for some repairs with some beers in hand

Haha man you're having some bad luck. I've been surfing as much as possible for 5 years now and have never blown a fin plug. My fins always seem to snap before the plug goes. Not sure what the deal is, but i thought most fins were set up to snap before the plug?

Today whilst unbagging my board i found the damage i thought i hadn't done last week.

So got some Solarez this morning and filled the area. I placed clear plastic over like it suggested and the finish was actually pretty dam good. I was thinking of getting it done at a shop but for $7 i'm astounded

Good product report. That's all
