thats Glen Toby Jones is in the blue Singlet and the shaper of that board and I'm the guy on the right.
the pic was taken in the mid 80s.
Toby was a champion bloke fantastic shaper and a loving dad
he shaped for Vosper on the goldie as well as islantis phillip Island VIC
Hohensee surfboards goldie and Emu park.

sadly i missed the day tobys son received the boards i sent them, but i received photos of tobys kids holding the boards and i tell you the eyes welled.

if you have any old glen jones boards kicking around please contact kelly, they will be appreciated by beautiful people.

Great story. Always good to find old boards. I had five old clunkers I found on verge chuck outs. I took them to the local surf shop to give them away as I didn't have time to fix them. A bloke walked in and grabbed all five. He and his son where looking for old boards to fix. It felt good the old boards where going to a new home rather than the tip

Oh the Pain!!!

We burnt old boards as an excuse to have wild beach parties at Coolum beach (Stumers creek) in the seventies.

( I think as my memory is vague hehehe)

A Kevin Platt, a San Juan, a Ken Manning, a Henri and more... and then we started to make our own. (With no branding, as i still do today)
We stopped the practice when we found out how we we're damaging the atmosphere by doing such things.

Vegetarian, mushroom eaten, pot smoker nature boys who hated commercialism and competitive surfing.
Never thought the industry would become so huge.

What a privilege to have lived in this era. Topless girls on every beach. No aids or herbies. Big bush buds.
Sand in granite bay and 2nd bay.
You could actually catch a wave from the boiling pot to main beach and no one would even try to drop in.

And then there was the island.

If anybody has a time machine, I'm in.
