Does anyone know if it was an actual accident? I thought I may have heard that there was an actual incident like a collision in the water and he drowned as a result.

I'm very cautious about speculating so I need to emphasize that this is what I think I heard. I could be completely wrong, just wondering if anyone heard similar?

From The West Australian:

Surfer drowns in Prevelly
Michelle Wheeler, The West Australian
November 24, 2012, 10:13 am

Update, 11am: A 58-year-old Scarborough man has drowned while surfing near Margaret River this morning.

The man had been surfing at Surfers Point at Prevelly Beach and he was discovered in the water by another surfer about 6.30am.

Attempts were made to revive the man on the beach but he died at the scene.

Surf Life Saving WA spokesman said the incident happened before life savers were on duty.

The circumstances leading to the man's drowning are not known but police are treating the death as non-suspicious.

Police will prepare a report for the coroner.

It was mentioned and talked more in the long board room. I think it was Norm Twight.

Norm passed in Falcon and the bloke from Scabs in Margs.
Still no name?
Norm was a national long boarder, I still haven't heard anything on the bloke from Scabs
long rides and no wipe outs to both of them though.
