Managed to ding the underside of my board today - 2.5 - 3 " gash straight through to the foam

It's just forward of the half way point - I have tried to angle the board so that the ding is the lowest point and stuffed a bit of tissue in the opening to try and aid osmosis - any other tips to try and ensure the board is dry?

Also would you glass fill (UVX type product) straight over it and sand back or cut out the damaged glass and make it a bigger repair - I'm inclined to fill & sand back...

Doesn't look so big I would cut out the ****ty edges pour resin and sand...maybe stuff some glass in there if your feeling good about things

Cut out the damaged glass with blade or router, then let it dry out in the sun for a couple days. Fill the cavity with Q-cell type filler and allow to dry, then glass over. Youtube has heaps that will help. I wouldn't fill it completely with resin though as resin in large quantities gets to hot when catalysing and it shrinks like hell.

It's not perfect but reasonably clean & smooth given I have no tools at the moment - used a filler and a tiny bit of glass mat then resin over the top & sanded back - thanks for the responses

That's a good job... the only other thing you could have done would be to add some white pigment to the resin mix... not sure how hard this is to get now... my little jar of white is about 25yo!

Yeah I couldn't find anything locally - to be honest it was a cheap second hand custom - I would have done some online trawling but getting it back in the water was more important in this instance!

Maybe if anyone knows where to get some they could post a link for future reference?

I would check with Fibreglass and Resin Sales in Welshpool.

Shapers provides everything you could possibly want. Also Surfblanks Australia and Dion Chemicals. Len at Shapers will put some in the post for you immediately if you call them. I am sure they could tell you of a local shop you can get them from as well.

You can also use some q-cell to add a white colour to your resin mix. I use this all the time - works a treat.
