Hi all,

Just seeing if anyone has successfully repaired a wetsuit. It's only a small 1 inch separation from the seams (stitched) near the shoulder. I was thinking about using a glued tape or small section of glued neoprene?
It's a 2mm short arm steamer so I'm not too fazed about the flexibility and it's not really in a critical spot. Wetty is 18 months and out of warranty but still has another year in it I reckon.
Will post pics tomorrow maybe, if I'm not too lazy.

I've used Aquaseal with a patch and it's lasted for years but I've also used roof and gutter sealant for small holes and thats lasted pretty well too but not as good as Aquaseal.

Compare the price of aqua seal to sikaflex 292i. And apply a patch to be doubly sure. Both sides to be trebly sure. Then blind-stitch to make it outlast any other bit of the wetsuit.

My method is to stitch it if the area is sound around the split - leaving >2mm from the tear and not pulling the thread too tight (so it will not pull through) - and then smear with either gutter or windshield silicon.

If it's a very clean cut you can get away with supergluing the two edges together - but you will have a stiff line that will eventually crack...
