Doesn't say what he was doing. So I have filled in the blanks:

A croc and a shark had a contest to decide who'd get more famous taking a chunk out of a human.

Don't salt water crocs float around up around that area? Sorry mate, just trying to add a bit of sarcasm to this thread before we break out into another all out argument over attacks.

Surfing.
First attack I've heard of up that way.

Heavy, although it should thin out the crowds.

Only a matter of time up the way. So many sharks, less and less fish, more and more people.

Surprised it hasn't happen before.

Hope for a speedy recovery.

thinking it was a tiger, sounds like he'll be OK the drive into town would've been hellish for him and his crew, hope he has a speedy recovery at RPH. Oh and thanks for the clarification NG, thought you knew something the media didn't

Yeah that drive to the nearest hospital, we've all contemplated it I think. Maybe not shark bites, but definitely bad reef gashes.

There are so many sharks up there I'm surprised there hasn't been more attacks over the years. I surfed up there in the 80's and the big Tigers that used to be caught from shore were frightening. I don't imagine there's a shortage of them now either.

Cant believe that there has been one up that way.

Always thought that although lots of sharks also lots of fish.

Is it a collapsing level of fish stocks or increasing migratory whale population.

I am wondering what shark species as I would of thought if it was a tiger the end result would have been far worse.

Human life is just so valuable! Not just your own life, but lately I've been worried about leaving my wife and son behind. I don't think I can do it anymore. Right from the start a couple of years ago, I wanted them culled and that caused a bit of outrage, but it's gaining momentum. I'm not getting into that arguement again but people cry out about fish getting caught by mega ships and whale getting killed, yet fathers and sons are getting killed!! Wives are left to pick up the pieces. Sons have no fathers! I don't think I can do it anymore, as much as I love our hobby.

People get upset about the treatment of cows in Indo, yet accept people are getting attacked. My apologies if I've offended, but that's my opinion.

Well you're more likely to die driving up to bluff. Between the grey nomads, stray animals and road trains, sharks are the last thing that would stop me going up there.

if u had of asked me the two safest places to avoid attacks but still have great waves 6 months ago i would have said the last 2 attack locations were the safest.

surfing nowdays is certainly different and if you have a good family can be emotional pre paddle out.

We had a solution to the problem and it worked well. We changed the solution and now we have the problem again. We can cull now and solve the problem while we research to find a better solution. There is a large protest in Perth today regarding the marine parks and associated conservation issues. The issues are in the government's eyes and there is an election coming up. I like sharks and I like to surf. At the moment the two dont mix.

You would, infact, be safe in the water anywhere. Not even the biggest sharks could stomach your oversized ego.

This is a forum, everyone is entitled to a opinion and some are obviously more qualified to comment on certain topics then others (ie Suba is in marine research industry) but why is that the pro cullers out there attack the people who have a different opinion to there's Play the ball not the man is the saying.

Another shark attack. Are you serous, sadly my opinion is it is only going to get worse. IMHO much worse. Less food around and more people in the ocean it has to happen. Everyone is saying they thought up north was one of the safest areas around. Why because of the supply of food they had. Now i hear from people returning from up north fishing trips and many complain about the poor fishing. To many smaller sharks around competing for everything they caught, or worse just catching nothing. Next thing we have a attack. I can see the link

We need to stop impacting on the ocean by stripping it bare.
